What does ballet do for the body?

Ballet, gives you strength, flexibility and poise. It helps you develop good posture which is good for your appearance as well as your spine and internal organs.

The strength and muscle development raise your metabolism makeing it easier to maintain a healthy weight. It also builds bone density which comes in handy later in life, you will be less likely to have osteoporosis and brittle bones.

Any physical activity performed on a regular basis helps the body to heal better and the immune system to function better.

Ballet also teaches you how to use your feet and knees as shock absorbers when you run and jump so you will get better wear out of your knees especially of you do other sports. Often basketball players are made to study ballet so they can learn how to jump without hurting their knees.

It makes you stronger, more graceful, and you gain a better sense of balance. It's a really good workout even though it's kind of slow.

Very good for your leg and ab muscles.

HAVE FUN!

it gives you a strong core, back, legs, pretty much everything. it also makes you graceful.
My gal Miyuki has been practicing ballet since age 4. She has developed really great legs from it, plus the best butt in Japan, as well as good overall muscle tone and strength. She is so graceful and has good balance. She practices Karate too, and her ballet helps with the kicks.
